DIANA SNYDER LMFT

Portrait of Diana Snyder LMFT

Hello! Thank you for being here and considering working with me. My name is Diana, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist currently serving within Pennsylvania. I have worked in mental health for over 10 years in private practice, community mental health, residential, and inpatient. I have served both as clinician and supervisor. I believe this experience provides me advantage as it is has given me such a diverse experience.

In my own life, I grew up in the Philadelphia area, Delaware County to be exact. I lived in the city until recently when we moved to Bucks County and so I am familiar with how it feels to live in both. There was an 8 year period when I lived in Chicago where I attended grad school and received my masters. Chicago is an amazing city and that experience helped widen my perspective.

We decided to move back to Philadelphia after I gave birth to my son

and we became first time parents. If you are looking for therapy, it is likely you are going through a transition in your life. As a systemic therapist, I very much know that when we have a big change in our life, it somehow seems to affect everything. Even as a therapist, we are not immune to these shifts. When I had my first son, we had to rethink everything and ultimately decided to move back to Philadelphia. I am glad we made this decision, but it was not easy.

These are topics that I often help others with as well: life transitions. Marriage. Divorce. Infidelity. Becoming a parent. Changing career. Loss of a job. Loss of a loved one. Having to help a loved one move to a more supportive environment. A traumatic event. Trauma. Moving in together. Moving. Going to college. Health events. Receiving a diagnosis. Accepting neurodiversity in one self. Shifting self-concept.

Experience does matter when selecting a therapist, and I have that. There is no doubt that having the opportunity to learn by doing is paramount. I also want to say that equally as important is the heart. I am deeply passionate about this work. I consider myself very lucky to be able to do therapy as my living and believe it my calling. I have always been a deeply sensitive person who much prefers the depth rather than the shallow, and I pride myself in my ability to easily detect patterns which in turn allows us to come up with a plan and ultimately do great therapy. This not only pertains to individuals but also couples and families.

The pattern is the clue. We are the detectives.

As an LMFT, I approach presenting problems through a systems lens (moving parts) and work alongside my clients by exploring the human experience and the balancing act it requires. I investigate the moving parts of the psyche and pay attention to the ever-shifting personal and relational needs of our lives. With the patterns of the parts, we can gain clarity on areas of focus that can then lead to rearrangement, the development of new coping skills, and ultimately growth.

In my spare time, I enjoy studying archetypal concepts and am fascinated by how we, as humans, make meaning in our lives. I also enjoy writing and photography which I feel is very much about the process of finding meaning in a narrative or a point of view that can usher healing and personal purpose.

If my work practice and theoretical framework interest you, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. It is very important you have a therapist that is skilled to help you in the way that will best serve your needs, but what is also so very important, is that therapeutic relationship.

It is difficult to pinpoint when you find a therapist that clicks. I encourage you to explore the following themes when talking with me and other therapists. With whom did you feel at ease? Did you laugh? Did you want to talk more? Did it feel safe? Did you feel heard?

I am happy to offer a free 15 minute consultation so we can see the fit. I can’t wait to talk with you!
